Welcome to Magical Musings!
I am a Pagan, a Witch, and a Priestess-in-training. I came into Witchcraft when I left my son's abusive father a couple years ago. I have been living and breathing witchy things ever since. (I literally spend hours a day studying and practicing magic - I'm a SAH Mom, so whenever my son is occupied I'm either online or have my nose in a book, and when he's asleep I'm in my Altar room)
I am a writer, and just launched my business: Magical Musings Freelance Writing Services (Magical Musings Writing for short). I started writing about witchy stuff when I enrolled in Witch School - snce I have ADD, my mentor for the First Degree Lessons allows me to write essays instead of taking the multiple choice test at the end of each lesson. I realized that I loved it, and was proud of it, so I decided to take it a step further. That was when I joined Hubpages. I love writing for them, but while I was putting forth a lot of effort, I wasn't making much money - like 10 cents for a 2400 word article. I still plan to write Hubs, but I decided if I could reach thousands of people and do so well on Hubpages, that I could expand my writing even further. My mind is always musing about magick, hence the development of Magical Musings! (I took the k out of magical because not everyone adheres to that school, and I thought it would be more inclusive to keep the traditional spelling). While I started out with the blog, I was developing the business - learning about freelancing, entrepreneurship, what to expect from running a business from a home business as a single mother. When I learned all I could, I decided it was time to open my 'doors'. The only thing I couldn't find was information about the business from home as a single mom thing, but I'll figure that out as I go!
Now you're probably wondering what it is about me that makes me think I'm worth giving a read - the number of witchy writers is growing, so why me? Well, I don't fit in with many of the others. Often they have other jobs or have established careers as writers, as in they've published one or more book, so they don't have to deal with $$$ problems. I am on disability for CPTSD. (Complex PTSD - I'll be posting a blog explaining more about that soon!), I know what it's like to struggle with money, which means anything I tell you about will be something you can do without spending much if any, money. Also, I have been through some serious shit- the type of shit we don't like to talk about and turn to the internet to find articles and forums to find others to relate to. The shit I'm referring to is domestic abuse.
I refuse to consider myself a Domestic Abuse victim. I used to be! But since I've found witchcraft and started working with the Morrigan and other badass goddesses, I now think of myself as a Domestic Violence Thriver. If it weren't for the scars and painful memories I wouldn't be who I am today. Do I wish it never happened? Well DUH, I would give anything to have skipped that part of my life and landed right where I am now: Happy and content with my son. Sure I live paycheck to paycheck, but I am so prosperous in other aspects of my life that I don't let the money bring me down. I am hoping that my writing will help in that department, but more than anything I hope that my writing will reach people that are going through what I went through and help them in any way. I went from merely existing as a shell that went through the motions to care for my son to someone who truly loves life. I honestly don't think I have ever felt this way about my life or thought so highly of myself. Like, EVER. I make sure that the majority of my day is spent on doing activities with my son. I will take him out to our backyard where we will play ball, or try to find the Faeries that help my flowers grow. We go to the beach where I help him build sand castles, and try to teach him to swim (he's only 2 so he doesn't really like that part). I have a little easel set up with non-toxic paints and a little canvas next to mine so he can paint when Mommy does, or we will gather miscellaneous things from around the house to use to make marks and designs in play-doh. The list goes on! The point is I thoroughly enjoy life and see the magic of every moment, and I hope that my writing will help others at least make a step in that direction.
If you are suffering from depression, anxiety, or anything else that is interfering with your daily life, I urge you to see a licensed mental health professional! My blogs and articles are meant to work in conjunction with the advice of your therapist- NOT in place of psychiatric treatment. While I have a degree in Psychology I am not a licensed therapist so consult with your therapist/counselor before trying any rituals or routines I publish. Again, the articles I publish are about things that have helped me, but may not be appropriate for you.
